After Millions of users using WhatsApp everyday, the Communication tech giant decided to go on the web as well. Yeah WhatsApp announced WhatsApp web today.
In a blog WhatsApp told
“Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser. Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone.”
In the same blog WhatsApp also mentioned that iPhone users will not get this feature.
“Unfortunately for now, we will not be able to provide web client to our iOS users due to Apple platform limitations.”
The service is available only Google Chrome browser as of now. More browsers are coming soon.
While lots of people sending request to whatsapp team to develop a web interface, there was a rumor about a month before saying whatsapp is gonna come for web as well. WhatsApp today confirmed that.
Connecting to WhatsApp web from your mobile is very simple. Only thing you have to do is open https://web.whatsapp.com in Google Chrome browser
and then open WhatsApp from your mobile, Scan the QR Code which is displayed in the Web.
Also if you notice, WhatsApp made some UI changes for lollipop users. The user icon will look circular, not rounded square anymore.
Last February Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19billion and WhatsApp currently has 700 Million users.
